BB App - Add to Contact

For those of you who know my issues with BB (besides my ongoing issues with GMAIL) I HATE HATE HATE how you can't add a number to an existing contact in the blackberry menu.

I had a Sony Ericsson walkman phone that had a better "add to contact" application, so this is unacceptable for Rim!

Anyway, look no further. For $2.95 I found an application, and it took a lot of searching!

I literally just sent and text blast to a bunch of friends asking them for their email address and it let me add the emails to my contacts by highlighting and adding to contact!

From MobiHand:

Every Blackberry user knows the situation: you have received a call or message from somebody who already have a record in your Address Book but from another phone number (i.e. you have a Work number of caller but he called from Mobile or Home). AddToContact gives you a very simple way to add a new phone number, E-Mail or PIN address to existing contacts with 3 easy steps:

1. Select a call log entry, SMS, E-Mail or PIN message from which you want to add info.
2. Press the Menu key, select 'Add To Existing Contact' item.
3. Select a contact from list to which you want add info. If you adding a phone number you may be prompted to select phone number type (i.e. Work, Home, Mobile) depending on application's settings.

With AddToContact you may leave behind using copy/paste to add new numbers!

Features:
  • Add phone numbers from call log entries
  • Add phone numbers from SMS messages
  • Add E-Mail addresses from E-Mails
  • Add PINs from PIN messages
  • Ability to select a phone number type on adding or just use the first one
  • Replace already existing phone numbers
  • Phone number formatting
  • Add phone numbers or E-Mail addresses from any web page opened in browser
  • Add phone numbers or E-Mail addresses from body of any SMS, E-Mail or PIN message
  • Add E-mail addresses from E-mail's CC and BCC fields
  • Add phone numbers to existing or new contact just after incoming call finished
  • Very easy and quick
Here's the link to have an email sent for a free trial, http://www.mobihand.com/download.asp?id=28446

Or Zip File http://go.mobihand.com/?op=dl&pd=28446&l=1&ps=1&ext=zip&file=f1

Right after I downloaded, it sent me an email for 15% off if I bought it in the next 4 days, so I really got it for $2.50. Seriously, so worth it!

RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 announced; T-Mobile and AT&T bound

This post was updated on October 21 at 8:30 a.m. PDT with official pricing from AT&T and T-Mobile.
On Wednesday, Research In Motion unveiled its newest smartphone, the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700. It will replace the original BlackBerry Bold 9000, which debuted in November 2008, and offers a sleeker design, double the Flash memory, and updated features.

The most noticeable difference is the smartphone's size. The Bold now measures 4.29 inches tall by 2.36 inches wide by 0.56 inch thick and weighs 4.3 ounces compared with the original Bold's 4.48 inches high by 2.6 inches wide by 0.59 inch deep and 4.8 ounces. It's comparable in size to the RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630, and in fact, the two share the same 2.44-inch HVGA (480x360) display and have similar 35-key QWERTY keyboards.

However, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 replaces the trackball navigator with the touch-sensitive trackpad, which was first introduced on the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520. For those who fear change, you should rest easy knowing that we found transition from trackball to trackpad to be quite smooth, since the latter is extremely responsive.

The Bold 9700 is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack and features a slightly revamped leatherette back. Overall, RIM is hoping the sleeker design will appeal to both men and women, since the BlackBerry Bold skewed a bit more to the masculine side.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 offers more than cosmetic changes, however. The smartphone is equipped with a next-generation 624MHz processor and has double the Flash memory at 256MB (expandable up to 32GB via the microSD slot). Like the recently announced BlackBerry Storm 2, the Bold will run BlackBerry OS 5.0, which brings such improvements as threaded text messaging and a faster browser and BlackBerry Maps application. The camera has also been upgraded from 2 megapixels to 3.2 megapixels.

The Bold 9700 is a quad-band GSM phone that also integrated Wi-Fi with UMA support, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, and 3G support (UMTS/HSDPA 800/850/1900/2100; UMTS/HSDPA 900/1700/2100). Given the supported bands, we know you're already thinking about possible carriers and availability, so here's the dish.

RIM expects the BlackBerry Bold 9700 to be available from carriers worldwide starting in November, including AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T said the smartphone will ship in the coming weeks for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a mail-in rebate. T-Mobile's version will also cost $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and be available in time for the holidays; and yes, the Bold 9700 will support Wi-Fi calling. We hope we'll get review units soon, so we can let you know whether it'll make a nice little holiday treat or not.

Weatherbug, Free Weather App

I changed from WeatherEye to WeatherBug so I figured I'd post the link here.

I loved WeatherEye for the little sun icon, but the "processing time" was too laggy for my little BB curve so it bugged me when I'd accidentally click on the sun and then my BB got stuck while it went to the app.

http://blackberry.weatherbug.com/download

So when I got weatherbug I wasn't too fond of the little bug and the current temp, but I downloaded a weatherbug direct extension for the forecast which showed me a little sun icon on my home screen. See my little moonlit cloud?? Aint it cute!

This is how you can do it once you download WeatherBug.

Go to OPTIONS from the menu and select WeatherBug Settings.

Go to Weatherbug Portal and select Weatherbug Direct Extensions and select VIEW> Weatherbug Forecast > Details and you will see this screen. It will show as Uninstalled until you install it.

When you have it on your home screen, it will show the icon that pertains to the day's weather, and the High and Low will show when you scroll under the icon.

I always hide the original weatherbug icon so only the forecast extension shows and not the little bug. Yay!

Here's some more details on customizing:

To open WeatherBug Direct Settings:

  1. Select the "Options" icon from the homescreen (sometimes this icon is contained in the settings menu).
  2. Select "WeatherBug Settings" from the list.

To change your current location:

  1. Enter your ZIP Code, city, state, or city, country into the location input field.
  2. Roll the trackwheel until "Save" is selected.
  3. Click the trackwheel.
  4. Select your current city from the city list.
  5. Select your current station from the station list.
  6. Click the trackwheel.
  7. Select "Save."

Advanced Settings

Using advanced settings, the user can configure the number of updates their BlackBerry receives from the WeatherBug servers.
The default settings are 12 alert updates per hour, six temperature updates per hour, and one forecast update per hour.

To change the number of updates:

  1. Go to WeatherBug Direct Settings.
  2. Click the trackwheel once.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Highlight the type of data you would like to change.
  5. Hold down the "alt" key and scroll the trackwheel.
The number represents the number of updates you would like to receive in a hour.
NOTE: you can turn off updates by selecting 0

How to change the theme:

  • Go to "Options" (may be called "Settings" on some devices)
  • Go to "Theme"
  • Select a supported theme
  • Click the trackwheel
  • Select activate

SURVEY: Theme Club?

Hiya! I've had a few inquiries about this so I'm contemplating a theme club concept so I wanted to see which devices and what the interest would be for something like this.

If you're interested please feel free to comment and include your device type. The monthly cost would be somewhere around $10 and all would be OTA links.

I'd have to work out any additional details but I'm open to any suggestions you may have. If there's enough interest I will give it a try! Thanks in advance :)

I'm closing the custom requests for the time being, those on the list will be completed as well as any other requests I've talked to anyone about but I wont be workin on custom theme requests until further notice. Luvies!!
